style

Style can be thought of as a personal aesthetic, but it really is a complex expression of one's essence.

All things were once considered as having "essence", or an essential nature, and were also defined by the accidental nature, which you may have run across in English literature when one's social position was described as the "accident of birth". This did not mean that they were born 'accidentally' but just that the accidental nature or the circumstances of outer existence, was set in motion by the time and place of birth.

This is much like the Nature vs. Nurture debate that still goes on today amongst (primarily) behaviorists. Experiments have actually been performed on human beings that attempt to prove that behavior, emotional and physical growth, and even sexual orientation can be forcibly thrust upon one given the proper controls. Needless to say, as essence tries to demand its due from accident, dire consequences result.

Medieval astrologers looked for the planet with the greatest essential and accidental dignity, considering it the 'Almuten Figuris', and essential for correct analysis. They measured qualitative strength by the planets' Zodiacal (placements in the signs of the Zodiac and their subdivisions) and Domal (placements in the houses derived from the moment of birth) positions. Such a planet described to the astrologer what sort of work, diet, leisure activities and relationships would secure their client's happiness and longevity. This often was not what the person was doing with their lives, so many methods were employed to bring a person back into line with their inner nature. To live contrary to one's nature is a serious issue; it can cause problems with health, fortune and psyche.

We modern folk are drowning in a sea of objects-to-be-obtained, and we are conditioned to believe that these "things" equal an identity. There are possibly hundreds of brands of toasters, and hundreds of models of vehicles, and the varieties of color, design and payment plans are mind boggling. In fact, all of the things manufactured today are so close to being identical, the only way that advertising companies can guide our choices is to market things by Style.

Stop for a minute and think – what's the advertising business really up to? They aren't selling soap, or cars, or telephones that make you dance the bossa nova. Advertisers are selling Style. They are telling anyone who has the misfortune to accept the pleasure of their condescension what constitutes a good life. It's about making people predictable, so sales are predictable. The behavior of whole sectors of the population can be altered by changing a component of the Style to which they are assigned, and many people are caught in a trap of trying desperately to conform to the Style assigned to them at the time.

But you can have your own Style. Finding it may be the most important thing you could ever do.

First you must realize that mass marketed styles do not express essence. They can only express the intent of the manufacturer. That does not mean that they cannot be used as components in building a Style based on your own essence.

Know yourself first. Have some astrology and numerology charts made. Find out something about your personal genius. You will come to know that certain shapes, colors, textures, types of furniture, accessories, vehicles, music and so on are favorable or unfavorable according to your energetic nature. You will be able to quickly assemble the Style that is right for you, and make choices based on something truly individual.

You may need a change of Style; maybe changes in the energy flows of your physical and psychic environment are telling you that what was working once is not working any more. Style needs to adapt to the times, but it must change with your times.

A Style that is right for you expresses something intangible that makes you more attractive and influential. Style is a real talisman of power. Style is a form of magic that is easy to learn and is an important step to acquiring more energy and power to shape your future.
